Trump Delivers Speech After Indictment

Trump Claims Americans Are Being Targeted

(LibertySociety.com) – During his first public appearance since being indicted by Special Counsel Jack Smith, former President Donald Trump spoke to a crowd at the Georgia Republican state convention, claiming, “In the end, they’re not coming after ME, they’re coming after YOU—and I’m just standing in their way.” The former President promised to defeat those who are targeting him, including those he says are trying to disrupt his campaign to return to the Oval Office in 2024.

Trump told the crowd that he would thwart President Biden’s attempt at a second term, promising to fix everything that he argues was broken since Biden took office in January 2021. He also gave the audience a list of tasks that he will begin working on right away if he is declared the winner of the 2024 election, including tax and interest rate cuts and cutting funding for schools that teach “woke” ideology. He also spoke about his commitment to holding China accountable for the health emergency in 2020, in addition to putting an end to what he sees as the unfair trade accommodations that China has been afforded for too long.

Trump is currently facing charges in two criminal cases, including one related to his possession of classified documents and one related to his alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels. However, he still appears to be taking the lead among GOP primary candidates, with 59% of voters in a recent Morning Consult survey supporting him. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took 19% of support, while 8% of voters chose former Vice President Mike Pence.
