Mexican Cartel Allegedly Gives Up Members Who Killed Americans

(LibertySociety.com) – Two of the four Americans who were kidnapped by members of the Mexican Gulf Cartel were located on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, surviving the abduction. Initial reporting from Mexican and U.S. officials described the kidnapping as unintentional, saying that the people were not targets of the cartel. However, it has also been suggested that drug trafficking could have been the cause, with the New York Post reporting that all four victims have drug arrest records.

The Scorpions, a faction of the Gulf Cartel, crafted a letter that was leaked by law enforcement from the state of Tamaulipas, stating that they had turned over the cartel members who kidnapped the four Americans and caused the deaths of two of them. In the letter, the cartel stated that policy was not followed when it came to “respecting the life and well-being of the innocent,” adding that the rogue members acted independently and lacked discipline. Although Mexican government officials have not confirmed the authenticity of the photo released of the five men who they claim are responsible, it has been reported by two separate sources to the Associated Press as authentic.

All of this took place in the city of Matamoros, which is located right across the border from the city of Brownsville, Texas, and has been listed as a “do not travel” area by the United States Department of State. The family of Latavia McGee, one of the victims of the kidnapping that survived, says that she was traveling to Mexico to get a tummy tuck, which costs significantly less than it does in the United States. Authorities are still working to confirm this. Cartel members killing Americans for no reason is odd, according to law enforcement officials who spoke with the New York Post. Normally, they do not take any types of actions that could potentially have an impact on their business operations.
