(LibertySociety.com) – The Biden administration’s unwillingness to curb the flow of illegal immigration into the United States has led to illegal migrants arriving at the southern border from all over the world. The number of individuals arriving from China has drastically increased within the last year, according to a new unofficial report from Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In just one week in April alone, 700 Chinese illegal migrants were apprehended as they crossed the southern border near San Diego. Since last October, over 26,000 illegal migrants from China have been apprehended.
One CBP source revealed a 300 percent increase in Chinese illegal migrants from the same period in 2023. The source also said that China has refused to allow the repatriation of any illegal migrants, so they are released into the country unless CBP finds “specific derogatory information about an individual.” CBP is perplexed by the record increase in illegal migration from China, as the single week in April had double the number of apprehensions than all of fiscal year 2021. Agents are unable to obtain much information about the Chinese illegal migrants due to the language barrier and the large number of crossings in such a short period.
The CBP source said that it was hard to determine “who is a foe and who is a friend,” noting that the goal was to analyze specific threats posed by the Chinese government rather than categorizing every Chinese individual as a perceived threat. Traveling to the United States from China is very expensive, as the illegal migrants must travel to Turkey and then Ecuador before crossing the Darien Gap in Panama. From there, they travel through Central America into Mexico before finally arriving at the southern border. Retired Army Colonel Dr. Kenneth Allard said that many of the migrants could be defectors but noted that totalitarian governments often look for opportunities to exploit another country’s weakness.
