Ultra-Progressive Congresswoman Mad About Jesus Ad

(LibertySociety.com) – Far-left Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, took to her $8 blue-check Twitter account to criticize a Christian advertisement that played during the LVII Super Bowl on Sunday, February 12th, 2023. The advertisement featured various scenes of different groups of people protesting, beginning with a person facing off with a police officer, then switching to people holding signs such as “liberty over lockdown.” The Congresswoman tweeted that she didn’t think Jesus would buy “Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign.”

Many people commented, criticizing her for always having a problem with Christians. Others replied or quote tweeted AOC, mocking her for getting angry about an ad that discourages hatred. According to Fox News, although she didn’t cite the ad specifically, it was the only type of ad that talked about Jesus during the Super Bowl.

The group, called He Gets Us, is a Christian organization that began in early 2022 with the goal of telling people about Jesus, especially those who have felt marginalized. The ad campaign cost around twenty million dollars and received contributions from Christian groups and anonymous donors. The well-known donor behind the ad campaign is the family behind Hobby Lobby, according to Fox News. Hobby Lobby is often a hot topic among members of the Left, criticized for its Supreme Court battle that it won after refusing to provide coverage for emergency contraception like Plan B to its employees because it goes against its religious beliefs.

AOC also commented on who Elon Musk decided to sit with at the Super Bowl, tweeting “Birds of a feather flock together,” with a photo of Musk and Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch, as reported by The Daily Mail. AOC has a tumultuous relationship with Musk. She often criticizes him for his decisions regarding Twitter and the amount of taxes he pays, ultimately followed by quirky responses from Musk.
