January 6 Committee Lied About Trump’s Actions

(LibertySociety.com) – The House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight, which is led by Representative Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., recently released previously hidden transcripts from the January 6th Committee. Among those was a closed-door interview with former Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato.

The interview was conducted by then-Representative Liz Cheney and others, but the transcript was never released. Cheney amplified accusations from Cassidy Hutchinson, who worked as an aide to Trump. She claimed that Ornato was the source who told her that former President Trump attempted to grab the steering wheel of the presidential car to force the Secret Service to take him to the Capitol.

Following Hutchinson’s claims and multiple media appearances, Ornato was planning to give public testimony to refute them, but the committee decided against allowing him to testify. The final report from the committee also claimed that they had not found any evidence that Trump put in a request for 10,000 National Guard troops ahead of the planned rally at the Capitol. Ornato testified that Trump had made the request during his interview with Cheney, but she suppressed the evidence. Loudermilk said that the discovery was “just one example of important information the former Select Committee hid from the public,” adding that he was committed to “uncovering all the facts, no matter the outcome.”

Loudermilk himself was targeted by the January 6th Committee, which spread rumors in the media that he was giving rioters a road map of the Capitol. In reality, he was giving a tour to people from his district. Loudermilk also discovered that the committee had destroyed critical evidence despite a demand by then-House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., to preserve all documents and evidence collected during the committee’s investigation. Cheney denied that she did anything wrong in several posts on X, formerly Twitter, where she was met with an onslaught of negative comments. Her spokesperson also claimed that the report from The Federalist was “flatly false.”
