(LibertySociety.com) – On May 9th, 2023, Tucker Carlson announced a new platform for sharing his news stories, which he says is the only way to get the truth out. Twitter will now be the home of his new show. He shared the news in a video tweet, starting off by claiming the news media works to mislead Americans by framing a narrative and selectively including details and leaving out others, while also claiming citizens are being “manipulated.”
Carlson described what it is like to work in the news media, stating journalists are limited in what they are allowed to say. He then claimed that “if you bump up against those limits often enough, you will be fired for it.” He said news on social media platforms is simply a regurgitation of what is presented on TV, with articles from the mainstream media being disseminated and shared by users of various platforms. Carlson identified Twitter as a place that still allows free speech but stated that users are ultimately debating what comes from the news.
Carlson ended the video by announcing that his show will continue on Twitter very soon, offering Americans the ability to hear unfiltered and uncensored news, adding that there will be new aspects of the show as well. Fox News and Carlson parted ways on Monday, April 24th, 2023, shocking and outraging millions of viewers who watched his show. Two days after the announcement, Carlson released a video on Twitter, asking his followers to keep up with him on his website to see what he does next. The video was viewed over 81 million times. Meanwhile, Fox News has seen a sharp decline in its viewership since Tucker Carlson Tonight stopped airing, losing over 1.7 million viewers during his timeslot.
