Senator Marsha Blackburn Endorses Former President Trump for 2024

( – Another U.S. Senator has thrown their support behind former President Trump to be the Republican nominee for President of the United States in 2024. Senator Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., announced her endorsement of the 45th President in a Twitter post on April 17th, 2023, listing how the country was better off under this leadership. Senator Blackburn shared a photo of her and Trump, stating that she “can’t wait until he’s back in the White House.”

Senator Blackburn’s endorsement comes just days after Senator Ted Budd, R-N.C., announced his support for former President Trump’s re-election, signaling an urgency from some lawmakers to make their allegiance known. Several Republican candidates have decided to challenge the former president, including former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, entrepreneur and author Vivek Ramaswamy, and potentially South Carolina U.S. Senator Tim Scott, who has created an exploratory committee to determine whether he will make a run for the nomination.

Former Vice President Mike Pence has teased a possible attempt to seek the nomination, although most polls show him in the single digits. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been traveling to key early primary election locations, sparking rumors that he will be announcing his candidacy soon. It has been reported that he is waiting until the end of the state legislative session to make his announcement, but there have not been any decisions announced publicly. Governor DeSantis is the only potential or official candidate who is polling higher than the single digits, but he trails former President Trump by close to 30 percentage points.

In addition to Blackburn’s support, Trump picked up two more Tennessee endorsements, with U.S. Representative Diana Harshbarger and U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty announcing their support on April 17th, 2023, with Harshbarger also joining the leadership team for his campaign. Over 40 members of the U.S. House of Representatives have also endorsed Trump.
