Republican Launches Bid for California U.S. Senate Seat

(LibertySociety.com) – The race to replace Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., on the Democrat side has continuously gained new candidates, but now a Republican has decided to attempt to capture a Senate seat that has been long-held by Democrats. Eric Early, an attorney who is a supporter of former President Donald Trump, has officially announced his intention to run to fill the seat, although it may be impossible for a Republican to win. Early has sought to secure a spot in Congress previously, losing to Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., in 2020 by a wide margin, in addition to two failed candidacies for Attorney General of California in 2018 and 2022.

Early shared a video message on Twitter announcing his candidacy, explaining his decision to run. He spoke about the fentanyl crisis, border security, parents’ rights in education, as well as the return of manufacturing to the United States. His campaign message is similar to Trump’s, in that he wants to help ordinary Americans who he believes have been forgotten by establishment politicians. His website states that he will “stand up to the Socialist woke interests that control Washington, DC,” along with a list of issues that he feels have been plaguing Americans under Democratic leadership. His website also lists his agenda, which includes decreased spending, support of law enforcement, treating China as an enemy, and bringing peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Four Democrats have joined the race to replace Senator Feinstein, three of whom are already in Congress. Rep. Adam Schiff announced his candidacy via TikTok shortly after his removal from the House Intelligence Committee by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. California U.S. Representatives Katie Porter and Barbara Lee have also officially entered the race, with Schiff significantly favored to win. In early March, Ben Savage, the star of the TV show “Boy Meets World” also announced his run for the seat. Savage majored in Political Science at Stanford, which afforded him a U.S. Senate internship. His goal is to restore faith in the US government.
