(LibertySociety.com) – Well, it’s official. On February 14th, 2023, Nikki Haley, former Ambassador to the United Nations under the Trump administration and the first woman Governor of South Carolina, has announced that she will run for President in 2024. Fox news reports that Haley took to Twitter with a video message to make her announcement. It comes as no surprise to the people who keep up with Haley, as the news comes just a week after she teased a “special announcement” in an advertisement. With former President Trump announcing his run shortly after the 2022 midterm elections, there are now officially two candidates in the race.
In her video announcement, Haley stated that “It’s time for a new generation of leadership,” calling out the “establishment” for it’s multiple failures over the years. She also notes that Republicans have underperformed in the last six elections, losing the popular vote each time. She highlights her time as the Governor of South Carolina, boasting headlines showing her strategy of reformation. She accuses Democrats of wanting to rewrite history and label America as a fundamentally racist nation. An image of the 1619 Project flashes across the screen, as well as a video of the far-left progressive Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY.
In 2015, Governor Haley signed legislation to remove the Confederate Flag that hung outside the Capitol building, sending it to the state museum to be placed in the Confederate Relic room. Haley also gave the rebuttal to former President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address in 2016, spending a large portion of her speech on America’s broken immigration system. She is the daughter of two Indian immigrant parents, who she says told her every single day that living in America was a blessing for her family. Haley had previously said in a video interview that she would not run for President if former President Trump announced a run, but she did speak with him prior to making her announcement.
