(LibertySociety.com) – Rebecca Kiessling, a mother who lost her two sons to fentanyl poisoning, testified before the House Committee on Homeland Security on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023. During the hearing, she urged Congress to take action to stop the flow of fentanyl coming into the country and to bring more awareness to the crisis. Her 18 and 20-year-old sons, along with an 18-year-old girl, all reportedly died when they were fatally poisoned by the drug that was disguised as a Percocet pill.
Kiessling blasted the policies of the Biden administration at the southern border, saying that the care of the illegal migrants entering the country are of more concern than the children dying from fentanyl poisoning. After the hearing, she interviewed with Fox & Friends, where she called out the Democrats’ claim that fear-mongering was being used during the hearing. In response, Kiessling stated, “We have reason to be afraid,” calling on leaders to take action and adding that their claims were disheartening.
Kiessling also said Democrats are ignoring the increase in deaths from 2020 to 2021 when they tout the increase in seizures at the southern border, stating that “Numbers are going up” rather than down. Representative Mark Green, R-Tenn., Chairman of the committee, wrote a letter to the CDC requesting updated statistics on fentanyl related deaths in 2022, according to Fox News.
Now President Joe Biden is receiving backlash after laughing when speaking about the deaths of Kiessling’s children during an event with House Democrats in Baltimore on March 1st, 2023. He was attempting to dunk on Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga, for blaming the policies of Biden for their deaths even though they died in 2020 before President Biden took office. Kiessling took to Facebook to demand an apology from President Biden for mocking the deaths of her sons to poke at a Congresswoman for misspeaking. She then asked him to explain the increase in in fentanyl deaths since he took office.
