(LibertySociety.com) – On Wednesday, the FBI conducted a planned and consensual search of President Joe Biden’s beach home in Rehoboth, Delaware for over three hours. The search was part of an ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice into the discovery of classified documents at a private office in Washington D.C. that Biden used while he was a private citizen, as well as at his residence in Wilmington, Delaware.
According to Biden’s personal lawyer, Bob Bauer, no documents marked classified were found during the search of the Rehoboth home. However, the FBI reportedly confiscated some notes and other materials relevant to his Vice Presidency. A senior law enforcement source confirmed Bauer’s characterization of the outcome of the FBI’s search.
The search of the Rehoboth home was conducted without a warrant, and it is the first publicly known time that the FBI has searched the residence. The FBI had previously searched the think tank office and Biden’s Wilmington home in November and January, respectively, but did not obtain a warrant for those searches either. The White House declined to comment on how many classified documents in total have been found at Biden-linked locations.
In a statement, Bauer said the DOJ had the President’s cooperation in conducting its search at his home. He added that the search was a part of a larger process that they would continue to “support and facilitate.”
The investigation into the Biden documents is being overseen by a special counsel Robert Hur appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland, according to Bloomberg. This is not the first time that Garland has appointed a special counsel to investigate the discovery of classified records, as he also appointed one to investigate former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, where the FBI found classified documents during a raid in August.

According to CNBC, Lawyers for former Vice President Mike Pence recently notified the National Archives and Records Administration that they had found a “small number” of classified documents at his home in Carmel, Indiana, in January.
