(LibertySociety.com) – An illegal migrant from Mexico was arrested and charged on April 1 after he showed up at a local police station in Carol Stream, Illinois, to turn himself in for killing his wife. Baltazar Perez-Estrada, 33, crossed into the United States illegally just two weeks before allegedly brutally murdering 26-year-old Maricela Simon Franco in front of their two children. He told officers at the Carol Stream Police Department that he and his wife were arguing and that it had turned physical. Authorities said that he stabbed Franco “dozens of times” in various places on her body.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said that the woman’s head was almost decapitated because of the numerous times Perez-Estrada stabbed her in the neck. He was charged with five counts of first-degree murder. The state filed a motion with the court to keep Perez-Estrada behind bars until his trial, which was granted by Judge Joshua Dieden. His arraignment is scheduled for April 25. He is also facing a federal charge of alien inadmissibility for coming into the country illegally but was only given a notice to appear at a future court hearing. Berlin wrote that Perez-Estrada would “be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Former President Trump continuously brings attention to the scourge of violent crime committed by illegal migrants, although some Democrats have claimed that Republicans are pushing a political narrative during the 2024 election season. However, Trump has spent years pointing to specific instances of heinous crimes committed by illegal migrants, especially those committed by MS-13 gang members. Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., who also sits on a national advisory board for the Biden campaign, recently said that the alleged narrative manufactured by Republicans was racist.
Other Democrats, including President Biden, have attempted to justify illegal migrant crime because Americans also commit crimes. Most notably, Biden used this excuse during his State of the Union Address when he was forced to acknowledge the murder of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student who was killed by a Venezuelan illegal migrant while jogging.
