Matt Gaetz Directly Questions FBI Director About Biden Corruption

(LibertySociety.com) – FBI Director Christopher Wray faced tough questioning and harsh criticism when he testified on July 12 in front of the House Judiciary Committee, where he defended the integrity of the agency, seemingly attempting to shift the focus from its failures to its successes during his opening statement and throughout the hearing. He read a list of accomplishments, including the arrest of over 60 criminals per day and busting up drug cartels that are trafficking fentanyl across the nation, stating that the agency’s work is more than the “one or two investigations that seem to capture all the headlines.”

Republican Representative Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., began his five minutes of time by reading the infamous text message from Hunter Biden to a Chinese businessman where he asked why the businessman had not held up his end of the commitment, asking Director Wray what he thought about it. Wray refused to comment on the message, using the excuse that the investigation into Hunter Biden is ongoing, but Gaetz interrupted him, asking if he was “protecting the Bidens.” Wray responded with visible frustration, denying that he was doing anything of the sort. Gaetz seemed unsatisfied with his response, noting that Americans were watching and wondering why he would not confirm the obvious threatening nature of Hunter Biden’s text message.

Notably, Director Wray answered a multitude of questions from Democrats about the ongoing investigation into former President Trump, which was not lost on the Republicans. Representative Jerrold Nadler, R-N.Y., who is the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, claimed that Republicans were holding the hearing to benefit former President Trump in the 2024 election, an assertion he previously made when Special Counsel John Durham testified to the committee after his final report was released. One topic of interest to both sides of the aisle was the FBI’s abuse of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) requests. It has recently come to light that FBI agents were unlawfully looking into American citizens instead of using FISA for its intended purpose.
