(LibertySociety.com) – Lynda Carter, best known for her role as Wonder Woman in the 1970s, made headlines recently for endorsing two Democratic candidates over her conservative sister in an Arizona state representative race.
Pamela Carter, Lynda’s sister, is running as a Republican for Arizona’s Legislative District 4. She’s campaigning on a platform that focuses on fighting inflation, securing the southern border, and supporting law enforcement. Pamela was also a state director for Donald Trump’s campaign in 2020.
Despite their family connection, Lynda Carter publicly endorsed the two Democrats running against her sister. On September 14, she posted on X (formerly Twitter) that she was proud to support Karen Gresham and Kelli Butler for the Arizona House seats. Lynda praised both as “strong, experienced candidates” who were born and raised in Arizona.
In her post, Lynda also highlighted that the two Democrats are working mothers fighting for important issues, especially children’s access to quality education. Lynda’s decision to back her sister’s political opponents, rather than stay neutral, was seen as a bold move, considering Pamela’s prominent role in Republican politics.
Lynda Carter, now 73, has a history of supporting Democratic candidates. She backed Hillary Clinton in 2016 and President Joe Biden in 2020. Her endorsement of Gresham and Butler aligns with her consistent support for the Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, Pamela Carter’s campaign paints a different picture. Her website criticizes the Democrats’ policies, particularly on border control. She argues that Democratic policies, including those of President Biden, have worsened the issue of illegal immigration, contributing to increased crime and drug trafficking. Pamela believes that securing the border is critical to ensuring safety for Arizona residents.
Just two days after endorsing her sister’s opponents, Lynda Carter also threw her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 election. On September 16, she posted that Harris has a “proven track record” of improving the lives of everyday Americans, emphasizing that her policies benefit the public.
It seems the Carter sisters are as divided in politics as they are united by blood.
