White House Responds To Activists Who Went Topless At Event

(LibertySociety.com) – Critics blasted the White House for an incident during President Joe Biden’s pride month celebration of LGBTQI+ families on June 10.

A Twitter firestorm ensued after users saw a video recording of a transgender individual who goes by the name Rose Montoya, appearing topless on the White House lawn with two other attendees. Montoya interacted with both President and First Lady Biden during the event, filming President Biden for the TikTok video although the president thought he was posing for a selfie.

The White House officially responded to the incident by condemning the action of the guests, stating that, “This behavior is inappropriate and disrespectful for any event at the White House.” The White House also stated that the people who exposed themselves on the lawn would not be on the invite list for events in the future.

According to a report from Breitbart news, a number of Twitter users were appalled by the incident, with one user saying it was “impossible” to take the the United States seriously when this behavior was taking place at the White House.

Other users attacked the placement of the “pride” flag in between two American flags, sparking accusations of a violation of the United States flag codes.

Several Republican lawmakers blasted the public nudity on the White House grounds, reminding President Biden that he campaigned on the notion that his election would be a return to decency.

On Friday, June 16, Montoya appeared in a video to apologize for the behavior. Montoya directed her apology at both the LGBTQI+ community and the White House, acknowledging that she did “something unbecoming of a guest of the president.” Montoya promised to use the experience to create positive change in the future.
