(LibertySociety.com) – On Wednesday, March 31, President Joe Biden released his infrastructure proposal. The plan includes some problematic items, among them a pro-union provision. Republicans and pro-business organizations are already crying foul.
Biden has urged Congress to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act as part of the infrastructure package. It would make it easier for workers to organize and make it harder for businesses to stop unionization. It also includes an “ABC test,” which employers would have to pass to classify workers as independent contractors. California’s AB5 included the same test, and it was a disaster for freelance workers. Hundreds of people lost their jobs as a result.
Kristen Swearingen, chair of the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace, released a statement decrying the plan. She called the provision a “radical and overreaching poison pill” that will create a wedge between employers and employees. Swearingen said it would be devastating to small businesses. Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) has also said the PRO Act will infringe on worker rights.
The PRO ACT is a DISASTER.
Dems want to put 59 million Americans out of work, destroy our modern economy and crush businesses.
Every single member of Congress should be fighting for their constituents’ livelihood right now.

In early March, the House passed the PRO Act, but it was expected to die in the Senate. By adding it to the infrastructure proposal, the Left could use budget reconciliation to push it through. However, there’s no word on whether lawmakers plan to do that.
