Karine Jean-Pierre Slammed for Shattering Voter Confidence

(LibertySociety.com) – On November 7, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the issue of voting with reporters during her daily brief. She said America will not know all the winners on election day, as the ballots take “time to count.” The press secretary added, “that’s how this is supposed to work,” while encouraging the public to exercise patience during the process.

Twitter users immediately slammed Jean-Pierre for her preliminary warning, questioning why states can “no longer tally” all the votes on the same day. Many insisted the multiple days of counting debacle is a new concept, with the president of Judicial Watch insisting the delay “undermines voter confidence.”

Former Under Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Brown went one step further, calling the press secretary “just flat stupid,” per Fox News. He called the whole process insane. Brad Slager said he remembers a time when officials were able to “call elections” shortly after the polls closed. He questioned how Jean-Pierre knew ahead of time there would be a delay.

Different states have their own rules when it comes to counting votes. California, for instance, usually takes longer because state law allows ballots postmarked on election day to be counted, even if they physically arrive afterward. Nevada and Washington also typically have delays for the same reason.

What do you think about Jean-Pierre’s prediction? Do you feel like it takes too long to count the votes?
