Walz Labels Trump a ‘Dictator’ in Latest Criticism

(LibertySociety.com) – Minnesota Governor and vice presidential candidate Tim Walz made a forceful appeal to Arizona voters over the weekend, characterizing former President Donald Trump as a “dictator” who seeks to “overturn the Constitution” in a Tucson rally just before Election Day.

Addressing the crowd, Walz emphasized the critical importance of each vote in battleground Arizona, saying, “Momentum is on our side, but we take nothing for granted. We know in Arizona a vote or two per precinct could be what it takes to win the whole damn race for the country.” He appealed to supporters to remember the significance of the election for future generations.

“Someday you’re going to be sitting on that porch,” he said. “You’re going to be in that rocking chair, and a little one is going to come up to you after studying the 2024 election in school and ask, ‘When everything was on the line—when the American experiment was on the line, and there was somebody running who wanted to be a dictator, who talked about overturning the Constitution and using the military against our own people—what did you do to stop it?’” Walz continued, “And you’re going to be able to say, ‘Every damn thing we could. Every damn thing we could.’”

In closing, Walz urged the crowd to take action in the final hours: “Make a plan to vote. Make a plan to get out and canvass. Make a plan to take a neighbor to the polls.” He stressed that Arizona’s role in the election could tip the scale, particularly given the razor-thin margins in the state’s polls.

Arizona, a historically Republican-leaning state, is currently a key battleground, with recent polling showing Trump leading in seven of the last eight major surveys conducted since August, his margin of support ranging from 1 to 6 points.

Immigration is particularly pressing for Arizona voters, as it ranks as the most important issue in the state. According to a recent Wall Street Journal survey, 25% of voters listed immigration as their top concern, higher than any other battleground state. For 24% of Arizona voters, immigration is a “deal-breaker” issue, with Trump enjoying a 10-point lead over Harris on this topic.
