Vivek Ramaswamy Speaks Up on Artificial Intelligence Advancements

Vivek Ramaswamy Warns About Artificial Intelligence Advancements

(LibertySociety.com) – Republican candidate for the 2024 Presidential Election, Vivek Ramaswamy, is speaking out about the issues surrounding Artificial Intelligence (AI), telling Fox News Digital that he doesn’t think that President Biden himself “has the capacity to get his arms around this issue.” He added that he does not believe that anyone in the Biden administration knows how to tackle the situation. He says that a goal of his is to inform the public about AI, encouraging resistance against relinquishing authority to the technology. Lawmakers have begun to consult one another to craft legislation to address the situation.

AI has grown more quickly than expected, which has prompted some tech giants to author a letter to AI labs asking them to agree to a temporary six-month pause of further development of AI that is more advanced than GPT-4 until an agreed set of protocols can be put in place for safety purposes, as well as to prevent AI from taking jobs away from humans. Notably, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak are signatories to the letter, and now lawmakers and candidates have started to speak on the issue as well..

In addition to Musk and Wozniak, 1,000 more people have signed the letter that was issued by the Future of Life Institute. In addition to safety protocols, they are calling for governments to “step in and institute a moratorium” if these AI labs refuse to pause development. The CEO of OpenAI, which developed and released ChatGPT, did not sign the letter calling for a pause, raising eyebrows among the AI community. OpenAI is backed by Microsoft, but other companies have sped up their AI developments, with many companies already implementing their technology.

Ramaswamy would like for the United States to remain competitive with other countries that are advancing their AI technology, but he believes that we should not go further than necessary.

What do you think of the rapid developments in AI technology?
