(LibertySociety.com) – Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance called out the racist attacks on his wife Usha, suggesting that while people can attack him, his wife was off limits.
In an interview with Jonathan Karl on ABC’s “This Week” last Sunday, Vance addressed the recent attacks from white supremacists directed at his wife, the American-born daughter of legal immigrants from India.
Describing Usha Vance as “beautiful” and “smart,” the vice presidential nominee suggested that only a “smart” and “lucky man” would marry her.
Vance said if people wanted to attack him personally or criticize his policy views, they should “come after me.” He said they shouldn’t attack his wife because “she’s out of your league.”
Far-right neo-Nazi wannabe Nick Fuentes was among those who attacked Usha Vance after Donald Trump tapped the Ohio Senator as his running mate last month.
Fuentes questioned whether Vance was the right choice because he married an Indian and named one of his children Vivek. He suggested that Vance would not “support white identity.”
When Karl pointed out that Nick Fuentes showed up at Mar-a-Lago in 2022 when rapper Kanye West had dinner with the former president, Vance said Trump didn’t like Fuentes.
Karl pressed the issue, noting Kanye West’s history of antisemitic comments and praising Adolf Hitler. He suggested that Trump has never denounced West or Fuentes, whom he described as a white supremacist.
Vance dismissed Karl’s claim, noting that the former president had “issued plenty of condemnations on this.”
But Karl would not let it go. He noted that Trump had never specifically condemned Nick Fuentes.
Vance said Trump was willing to talk to anyone and argued that talking to people was not an endorsement of their views. He added that the former president has spent “quality time” with his wife Usha and suggested that Trump had always been gracious to her.
Vance circled back to the issue at hand, saying he wished people would direct their attacks on him rather than his wife. But he added that his wife is “tough enough to handle it.”
