Van Jones Claims J.D. Vance Could Split the Country

(LibertySociety.com) – On July 15, just moments before former President Donald Trump announced his vice-presidential pick, former adviser to former President Barack Obama adviser and CNN contributor Van Jones called Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance a “scary dude.”

He stated that after the attempted assassination of Trump, he thought that the Republicans would “have a kumbaya convention.” However, he claimed Vance “is not a Kumbaya pick” but instead is “an attack dog.” He said Vance would “be in there making a whole bunch of stuff happen,” adding that for people worried about the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 agenda, Vance “is a guy that’s going to really keep you up at night.”

He added that Trump choosing Vance over someone from the “old guard of the Republican Party” means that Trump seeks to take the Republican Party “in a new direction.” He called Vance a “horror on the world stage,” claiming both Ukraine and NATO are “in deep trouble.”

Jones then discussed the health of both President Joe Biden and Trump “not being healthy.” He claimed Trump has heart disease, adding that Vance “is next in line,” adding that he “could be the president of the United States.” He called Vance a “very capable guy,” noting that he “scares” many Democrats.

Another CNN contributor, Johan Goldberg, also commented about Vance. He claimed that while people think Vance will Trump “win over blue collar people in Ohio and Michigan,” Goldberg feels Vance is “not the guy to win over skeptical suburban housewives.” However, he noted that Vance is “a governing pick,” showing Trump intends to have “MAGA people” in important government positions. He added that means “real change for the Republican Party going forward.”

Despite their criticism of Vance, many Republicans reacted positively to the news.

On Twitter, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul wrote that he was happy with Trump’s choice, noting that Vance is “an opponent of endless wars and more aid to Ukraine.”
