US Muslim Group Blasts Biden’s Remarks On Palestinian Death Toll

( – During an October 25 joint press conference at the White House with the Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese, President Biden responded to questions about the conflict in Israel and Gaza. Laura Barron-Lopez from PBS asked Biden if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was ignoring his request to avoid taking civilian casualties, listing off the Gaza Health Ministry’s death toll numbers. President Biden rejected her claim, stating, “I have no notion that the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed.” The ministry is controlled by Hamas, which has already been caught lying about Israel bombing a local hospital. That misinformation was picked up by virtually all mainstream news outlets, circulating the globe before it was proven false.

Following President Biden’s remarks, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released a statement of condemnation. The group’s Executive Director, Nihad Awad, told Biden to apologize for his comments and called for him to “demand a ceasefire before innocent people die.” CAIR is a controversial pro-Muslim group that previously had a close relationship with the FBI. However, after a 15-year investigation, the FBI determined that CAIR likely held close ties to Hamas. The group was actually listed in the investigation as an unindicted coconspirator. CAIR has denied that the group has any ties to Hamas or Hezbollah.

In the three weeks following the deadly Hamas attack, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have vowed to completely dismantle the terrorist group. Most news outlets are reporting the total number of deaths as fact, but determining what is true and untrue is often difficult in the fog of war. Hamas is still suspected of holding 224 people hostage, including 10 Americans. Several high-ranking members of Hamas have been killed. On October 27, the IDF reported that another Hamas battalion commander was taken out by an aerial strike. They posted a video of the strike on X, formerly Twitter, adding that they had also conducted strikes on Hamas’s tunnel network.
