(LibertySociety.com) – Republican nominee Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance rallied supporters in Minnesota last weekend, hoping to flip the traditionally blue state that has not backed a Republican nominee since 1972.
The candidates hammered newly-appointed Democrat nominee Kamala Harris over her support for far-left causes and her involvement in the Biden administration’s open borders policies.
Donald Trump, who spoke for over 90 minutes, attacked the vice president’s record on immigration and her support for the defund the police movement.
Calling Kamala Harris clueless and “evil,” Trump told the crowd that the vice president failed in her efforts to secure the border and said that her “deadly destruction” of the border should completely disqualify her from becoming president.
His running mate also hammered Harris over her open borders policies and told the crowd that his “very simple message” to illegal aliens who have entered the US was that they should “start packing” their bags because Trump was returning to the White House.
The former president also blasted Kamala Harris for promoting the Minnesota Freedom Fund.
Harris tweeted the link to the fund during the Minneapolis riots following the in-custody death of George Floyd in 2020, urging her followers to donate to help bail out the rioters arrested.
During a campaign event in Atlanta on Tuesday, Vice President Harris claimed that she would be tougher on border security than former President Trump.
Harris vowed to bring back the bipartisan Senate immigration bill that she claimed Donald Trump derailed earlier this year by lobbying Senate Republicans to block the bill.
The Harris campaign also released an ad claiming that Trump is standing in the way of Vice President Kamala Harris’ attempts to fix immigration.
Harris also attacked Trump for refusing to commit to the September 10 ABC News debate that he and President Biden agreed to this summer. She told the crowd that Trump should reconsider, adding “If you got something to say, say it to my face.”
The Harris campaign has yet to negotiate conditions for a debate with the Trump campaign.
