(LibertySociety.com) – While the majority of voters continue to have an unfavorable view of former President Donald Trump, his average favorability rating has been showing some upward movement in recent weeks.
As of August 11, the Real Clear Politics polling average showed Trump with a favorability rating of 44 percent, just 1.3 points lower than his all-time high favorability rating of 45.3 percent in the RCP polling average from April 2022.
At the same time, Trump’s favorability remains underwater by more than 8 points with a 52.4 percent unfavorability rating.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris has seen a surge in favorability since replacing Joe Biden at the top of the Democrat ticket.
The Real Clear Politics polling average as of August 11 has Harris with a favorability rating of 44.5 percent and an unfavorability rating of 49.2 percent, placing Harris only 4.7 points underwater.
The FiveThirtyEight polling average as of August 12 shows Trump with a favorability rating of 43.4 percent, his highest rating reaching 44 percent in the FiveThirtyEight polling average in February.
Trump is still underwater by more than eight points, with a 51.6 percent unfavorability rating.
As with the Real Clear Politics polling average, FiveThirtyEight also shows Vice President Harris closing the gap. Harris holds a favorability rating of 44 percent in the FiveThirtyEight polling average and an unfavorability rating of just 48 percent.
Vice President Harris has also closed the gap in national polling, erasing the Trump enjoyed over former Democrat nominee Joe Biden.
As of August 11, the Real Clear Politics national polling average showed Harris beating Trump by 1.1 points, 47.8 percent to 46.7 percent.
Harris has led Trump in five of the seven polls conducted in August.
In the latest New York Times/Siena College poll, the vice president is leading Trump by four points in the three crucial battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, the latest Ipsos poll released on August 8 showed Harris leading Trump by five points nationally, 42 percent to 37 percent.
