Trump’s Operation Aurora Aims to Dismantle Migrant Gangs

(LibertySociety.com) – During a rally in Aurora, Colorado, former President Donald Trump introduced “Operation Aurora,” a bold initiative aimed at expediting the removal of criminal networks operating within the United States, specifically highlighting the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang. Trump vowed that if elected, he would invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to “target and dismantle” these criminal organizations, promising to seal the border and end the “invasion” of illegal immigration.

Trump emphasized the urgency of addressing migrant-related crimes, naming several victims, including Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley, to underscore the severity of the situation. He pledged that Operation Aurora would prioritize the removal of criminal gang members, noting that newly released ICE data indicated over 13,000 convicted murderers had been allowed into the U.S.

The former president pointed to a New York Times article revealing how members of the TdA gang had infiltrated the U.S. amidst mass migration, engaging in drug and human trafficking, as well as violence, including receiving orders to attack police officers in Colorado. Trump underscored the serious threat posed by the gang, which has spread its criminal activities across several U.S. cities, including Miami, New York, Dallas, and Atlanta.

Authorities have confirmed the growing presence of the Tren de Aragua, a transnational crime organization involved in extortion, abduction, drug trafficking, and more. In Chicago, authorities have tracked the gang’s activities since October 2023, and the Department of Homeland Security has acknowledged the gang’s directives to harm U.S. law enforcement.

In response to the growing threat, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has designated TdA as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of its members. Trump’s Operation Aurora is intended to tackle these gangs head-on, using the Alien Enemies Act to swiftly deport criminal migrants, with Trump framing the initiative as critical to national security and law enforcement safety.
