Trump Slams Harris as Taliban Flaunts U.S. Gear

(LibertySociety.com) – During a campaign rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania last weekend, Republican nominee Donald Trump hammered Democrat challenger Kamala Harris over her role in the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Trump, who spent last week zig-zagging around the country holding counter-rallies during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, told the crowd that he saw footage of the Taliban parading in equipment that the US left behind when it abandoned Afghanistan.

The former president noted that the Taliban seized $85 billion worth of US equipment and showed it off on the third anniversary of Kabul’s fall.

Trump boasted that during his presidency, not one American soldier was killed in Afghanistan for 18 months. He said after he left office, a “bunch of incompetent people took over” and everything “started up again.”

Describing the fall of Kabul as the “most embarrassing day” in the country’s history, Trump pointed out that Vice President Harris boasted in an interview that she was “the last person in the room” when President Biden decided to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan.

Not long after President Biden announced the withdrawal in April 2021, CNN’s Dana Bash asked Vice President Harris if she had been the “last person in the room” before the president made the decision.

Harris said that she was and told Dana Bash that she felt comfortable with the decision.

Trump told the crowd that the vice president “had the final word” and even “bragged about it.”

The former president said the disastrous withdrawal never should have happened. He hammered the Biden-Harris administration for withdrawing the troops first before it evacuated the civilians, adding, “You take your military out last.”

According to former White House chief of staff Ron Klain, Vice President Harris met regularly with President Biden to discuss the withdrawal from Afghanistan in early 2021. Klain said Harris also advised the president on the chaotic evacuation from Kabul.

In a campaign rally in North Carolina last Wednesday, Trump vowed that he would demand the resignations of every senior official involved in the Afghanistan withdrawal. He told the crowd that he would expect their resignation letters on his desk by noon on Inauguration Day.
