Trump, Haley Pick Up Support for Presidential Campaigns

Endorsements for 2024 Picking Up Speed

(LibertySociety.com) – Now that two candidates are officially in the race to become America’s 47th President, lawmakers are handing out their endorsements. Prior to Nikki Haley, former Ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump administration and former two-term Governor of South Carolina, announcing her candidacy on February 14th, 2023, former President Donald Trump had already picked up a number of endorsements. Representative Elise Stefanik, R-NY, the third highest-ranked Republican in the House, quickly endorsed the former President shortly after he announced.

Other prominent endorsements from members of U.S. Congress include Representative Andy Biggs, R-Arizona, Senator J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Georgia, Representative Troy Nehls, R-Texas, Representative Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, Representative Wesley Hunt, R-Texas, Representative Paul Gosar, R-Arizona, Senator Eric Schmitt, R-Missouri, Representative Jim Banks, R-Indiana, Senator Markwayne Mullin, R-Oklahoma, Senator Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, and Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Alabama.

On February 15th, 2023, newly elected Wyoming Representative who halted the political career of Liz Cheney, Harriet Hageman, officially endorsed former President Trump. Hageman released a statement along with her endorsement, crediting his America-first, border, and foreign policies. “I believe that Donald Trump was one of the best presidents of my lifetime,” Hageman proudly included in her statement, adding that his support of her also influenced her support of him. Defeating former Representative Liz Cheney in her re-election primary was one of former President Trump’s main goals of 2022, and she ended up losing to Hageman by thirty seven percentage points.

The news of Hageman’s endorsement comes on the same day as another House Representative announced his endorsement of Nikki Haley on Fox News Digital. Representative Ralph Norman, R-South Carolina, stated his belief that the Republican party is “better off” thanks to Trump, adding that the marginalization of Republicans was thwarted because of President Trump’s leadership and that they know how to fight again because of him. However, Norman indicated he thinks it’s time for new leadership.

One of Haley’s long-time allies, Rep. Nathan Ballentine, was quoted by CNN calling her a “hard charger.”  Other people, such as Cindy Warmbier, have expressed support for Haley since she announced her bid. However, Norman’s is the only lawmaker endorsement reported so far. Time will tell whether or not Haley gains enough support to prove a match for Trump.
