Trump Fan in MAGA Hat Blocked from Entering Mets Stadium

(LibertySociety.com) – A New York Trump supporter claimed that she was prevented from entering the Mets’ Citi Field on August 14 until she removed her “Make America Great Again” hat.

Trump supporter Aura Moody and her friend Taisha attended the Mets game with other members of their Queens Village Republican Club on Wednesday, August 15.

Both Moody and her friend, who were wearing MAGA hats, claimed that they were stopped by a Citi Field employee after clearing security and told that they weren’t permitted to wear political apparel at the game.

The 64-year-old Moody told the New York Post that her first thought was that she lived “under a communist regime” and the United States was no longer a “vehicle of freedom and tolerance.”

Moody claimed that she repeatedly invoked her First Amendment right to free speech but the staffer insisted that her MAGA hat was “too political” and had to be removed if she wanted to attend the game.

Eventually, Moody and her friend relented. She told the New York Post that they didn’t want to inconvenience the rest of the Queens Village Republican Club any further. However, Moody claimed that the Citi Field staffer wouldn’t let them stow their hats in their bags but instead forced them to go back to the parking lot to put them in their vehicle.

Since they carpooled with another friend from the Republican Club, they had to ask the friend to let them into the car.

Moody took a picture of herself in her MAGA hat outside of Citi Field as “proof” of the incident.

Moody accused Citi Field of “political discrimination” and suggested that the staffer would not have stopped her if she had worn a Black Lives Matter, Biden, or Harris hat.

She claimed that when they finally got to their seats, Moody noticed that the other members of the Queens Republican Club who also wore MAGA hats were allowed to go through without any difficulty.

Moody filed a complaint with Citi Field online.

The Mets told the New York Post that the staffer who stopped Moody and her friend misunderstood the organization’s policy on fan attire and said that the team would apologize to Moody.
