Trump Appoints William Owen Scharf to Key White House Position

(LibertySociety.com) – President-elect Donald Trump has selected William Owen Scharf, a prominent attorney and key member of his legal team, to serve as Assistant to the President and White House Staff Secretary. The announcement comes as Trump continues to assemble a team of experienced advisors for his upcoming administration.

In a statement, Trump praised Scharf’s legal expertise and his critical contributions to several of Trump’s legal victories. “Will is a highly skilled attorney who will be a crucial part of my White House team,” Trump said. “He has played a key role in defeating the Election Interference and Lawfare waged against me, including by winning the Historic Immunity Decision in the Supreme Court. Will is going to make us proud as we Make America Great Again.”

Scharf brings a wealth of experience to the position. He holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School and has clerked for two federal appeals court judges. As an assistant U.S. Attorney in St. Louis, Scharf handled cases involving corruption, terrorism, and financial crimes. He also served as a legal advisor to former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens and worked with CRC Advisors, a conservative public relations firm. Recently, Scharf ran for Missouri Attorney General, though he was defeated in the Republican primary by incumbent Andrew Bailey.

Scharf’s role as White House Staff Secretary will place him at the center of decision-making in the administration, overseeing the flow of critical documents and ensuring that presidential actions are fully informed by legal and policy considerations.

Trump’s selection of Scharf underscores his focus on bringing seasoned professionals into his administration as he prepares to tackle key policy goals and navigate legal challenges. Scharf’s appointment follows Trump’s announcement of Chris Wright as his pick for Secretary of Energy, further solidifying his team for the next term.
