(LibertySociety.com) – Democrats passed the $1.9-trillion COVID-19 relief package on Saturday, March 6, along party lines. Republicans opposed the bill because they believed it included a lot of wasteful spending. One senator warned the US was on a very dark path.
On Sunday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) slammed lawmakers for spending so much money on the pandemic over the last year. The Democrats’ bill is the latest in a series of stimulus packages, and it comes just a couple of months after the previous round. The senator warned the US could turn into the next Venezuela, whose economy has collapsed under its socialist government.

The Democratic Party is saddling the next generation with massive amounts of debt. Although the COVID-19 pandemic does require the government to send aid to people, there’s a real concern that the amount of money lawmakers are spending will hurt the economy for years to come. After all, like our parents always said, “Money doesn’t grow on trees.”
