(LibertySociety.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota held their first joint campaign rally in Philadelphia last Tuesday where Walz attacked Republican nominee Donald Trump and running mate JD Vance as “weird.”
In his first campaign speech, Walz praised Harris for her record as a prosecutor in California, claiming that she “took down transnational gangs” and “stood up” to “powerful corporate interests.”
Walz compared the Democrat nominee to the Trump-Vance ticket, claiming that she “does it all with a sense of joy” while the Republicans “are just weird.”
He warned the crowd that if Donald Trump and JD Vance take the White House, they would be a threat to democracy, claiming that they would “take away our rights” and put American lives in danger.
Walz also claimed that a Trump-Vance administration would “endanger the planet” by not addressing climate change.
Walz then accused Trump and Vance of being bullies and “fascists” who “depend on fear” but vowed that he and Harris would not be afraid.
In a press conference on Thursday, former President Trump hit back at the Harris-Walz ticket, describing the Vice President as “barely competent” and hammering Walz on his radical left agenda as Minnesota governor.
Trump said Walz holds positions so radical that it was impossible to “believe they exist.” As an example, he noted Walz’s support for allowing minors to undergo transgender surgeries.
Trump also hammered Vice President Harris for avoiding the press, noting that he had been doing interviews on television and radio and suggesting that Harris was not willing to hold a press conference like he did because she’s “not smart enough.”
The former president also compared Kamala Harris to his former Democrat challenger Hillary Clinton, suggesting that Hillary’s intelligence was “far superior” to Harris.
Trump also announced accepted invitations to debate Harris three times in September. In addition to the September 4 debate on Fox News Trump already announced, the former president said he would attend the previously scheduled ABC News debate he agreed to do with President Biden on September 10, along with a third debate on September 25 hosted by NBC News.
When asked about the debates at a campaign event with union members Thursday evening, Vice President Harris only committed to the September 10 debate on ABC News.
