Tim Scott Labels Biden as Democracy’s Greatest Threat

(LibertySociety.com) – Mainstream media outlets have spent the last several days analyzing former President Trump’s June 13 visit to Capitol Hill.

Multiple lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have appeared in interviews either defending or condemning the GOP rendezvous. Senator Tim Scott, R-S.C., on the shortlist for Trump’s vice president, answered questions from one left-leaning outlet on June 16. The host recited a recent comment from Trump regarding the January 6, 2021, defendants, where he likened them to warriors.

Scott pushed back on the blanket statement the host made about all defendants, differentiating between those who committed violence and those who were simply protesting and did nothing wrong. Scott pointed out that many people who entered the Capitol building that day went in “because the doors were open.” He noted that some defendants had spent more time in pretrial detention than they would if they were tried and found guilty in court.

Scott shifted to discussing President Biden’s bad decisions and radical policies that have pushed the United States in the wrong direction. He blasted his chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan that resulted in the deaths of 13 American servicemembers and his facilitation of a record amount of illegal migration at the southern border. Scott bluntly told the host that “the greatest threat to democracy today is Joe Biden.”

During the meeting, which took place at the Capitol Hill Club, lawmakers expressed birthday wishes to the 45th president and gifted him a bat and ball from the June 12 Congressional Baseball Game. Trump discussed several policy issues with lawmakers, including the need to get behind abortion exceptions and fighting to protect women athletes from being subjected to competing against men who identify as women.

Rep. Elise Stefanik, also on Trump’s list of potential VPs, spoke to the press about the GOP’s complete unity behind the presumptive Republican nominee. She listed multiple America First policies that Republican lawmakers were excited to pursue and expressed gratitude to Trump for being receptive to questions from her colleagues.
