(LibertySociety.com) – After President Joe Biden nominated Gigi Sohn to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) stated the possible partisan installation was dangerous. He said the nominee has already proven her “willingness to use government power” to stop her political enemies from expressing themselves.
According to Cruz, Sohn has a history of attacking Fox News and calling for the tyrannical censorship of media sources that espouse conservative points of view.

The Texas senator also reminisced about a time he said Democrats cared about free speech, but he believes that time is gone, unfortunately. Cruz stated if the nominee is allowed to go through, the FCC will likely “silence voices” with opinions that differ from their own. Not only that, but he questioned her ethics based on her past with a now-defunct TV streaming service.
Members of the Senate Commerce Committee voted on the nomination, but it came out in a tie. Now the confirmation is up to the full senate.
When considering Sohn for a position with the FCC, Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) said Democrats will need to decide if it’s wise to confirm someone about whom the committee was so torn.
