Suspect Identified in Break-In at Trump’s Office

(LibertySociety.com) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said last week that they have identified a homeless man as the suspect in the recent break-in at Donald Trump’s presidential campaign office in northern Virginia.

According to an August 14 statement from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, an arrest warrant was issued for 39-year-old Toby Shane Kessler on a charge of burglary in connection to the August 11 break-in at Trump’s Ashburn campaign office.

The sheriff’s office was contacted at about 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11 about a break-in at the office, which also serves as the headquarters for the Republican District 10 committee.

Surveillance footage showed someone in dark clothing and a dark hat carrying a backpack breaking into the office just after 8:00 p.m. by forcing the back door. Kessler spent only a short time inside the office before leaving.

According to the sheriff’s office, it was not clear if Kessler took anything with him when he left or if he may have left something behind.

The sheriff’s office said that Kessler’s face was captured clearly on the surveillance footage which led to his identification.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s spokesman Thomas Julia said that it was too early in the investigation to determine if the break-in was politically motivated and that more information was expected once Kessler was in custody.

According to the sheriff’s office, Kessler has a California identification card and a long history of criminal behavior. From what they could determine, Kessler has been in the Washington metro area since at least 2018.

Court records from neighboring Fairfax County revealed that Kessler was charged in 2023 with breaking into a property with the intent to damage, a misdemeanor.

A mugshot of Kessler has been posted to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Facebook page. The sheriff’s office said that anyone who has seen Kessler, who has no fixed address, should contact the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
