(LibertySociety.com) – The latest indictment of former President Trump includes six co-conspirators who have not yet been named. However, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has been identified by the media as Co-conspirator 1. Smith states that the former president and his co-conspirators knowingly made false claims about the results of the election in multiple states to convince lawmakers to object to certifying the electors on January 6, 2021. The indictment details Giuliani’s role in working with Republican legislators in several states to purportedly try to get them to overturn the results.”
Giuliani’s spokesperson Ted Goodman had quite a bit to say about Smith’s claims in the indictment. He told the National Review that the facts that were laid out by Giuliani “establishes the good faith bases President Donald Trump had” when he questioned the results of the election over the span of two months following the 2020 presidential election. Goodman said that the indictment “eviscerates the First Amendment,” adding that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is doing the bidding of President Biden to interfere with the 2024 election.
The indictment states that Giuliani stepped in to make the alleged false claims of election malfeasance after the Trump campaign refused to do so, detailing a particular interaction between him and Arizona house speaker Rusty Bowers. Bowers also testified to the January 6th Committee, which is likely where Smith drew his assertions about Giuliani in the indictment. Smith alleges that Giuliani was lying when he testified to lawmakers about reports of thousands of dead people voting, machine malfunctions, and a video of election workers scanning ballots multiple times after other workers were sent home for the night.
The other co-conspirators have not been confirmed, but CNN named Giuliani and four more people whom they believe to be the other co-conspirators. Among the four, Attorneys Sidney Powell and John Eastman were identified by CNN, along with Jeffrey Clark, a former DOJ official.
