Shredding Truck Parked at DOJ Post-Gaetz Nomination

(LibertySociety.com) – A paper shredding truck was seen outside the Department of Justice (DOJ) headquarters on Tuesday, raising questions as the Trump administration prepares to assume office. The truck’s presence was highlighted by the Oversight Project, a conservative watchdog group, which shared a photo on social media.

“Today a paper shredding truck arrived,” the Oversight Project posted on X, formerly Twitter. “We have maintained a physical investigative presence by the @TheJusticeDept, which also is more convenient for cooperating sources.”

The timing of the truck’s appearance has drawn attention, occurring shortly after President-elect Donald Trump announced Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) as his pick for Attorney General. Trump has promised a comprehensive overhaul of the DOJ, vowing to address what he describes as its “weaponization” against political opponents and restore trust in the agency.

Gaetz’s nomination has been met with both praise and criticism, with supporters emphasizing his hardline stance on rooting out corruption and detractors questioning his controversial reputation. Trump has positioned Gaetz as central to his plans to reform the Justice Department, which include investigating perceived abuses of power and advancing an agenda focused on securing the border, addressing Big Tech censorship, and reforming federal law enforcement practices.

Observers noted that the shredding truck’s arrival might be routine, but its timing has raised suspicions among Trump allies. They argue it could signal efforts to destroy sensitive documents ahead of the administration’s efforts to investigate alleged misconduct within the DOJ and other federal agencies. Critics of the department have long accused it of operating with political bias, claims that Trump’s incoming team has vowed to address.

Mark Paoletta, a senior adviser on Trump’s transition team, warned DOJ staff against attempting to obstruct or undermine the incoming administration’s agenda. “Subverting the will of the people will not be tolerated,” Paoletta said, emphasizing that accountability will be a central focus of Trump’s second term.

The DOJ has not commented on the appearance of the shredding truck, leaving its purpose unclear. With the administration transition underway, scrutiny of federal agencies and their activities is expected to intensify in the coming weeks. Trump and his team have pledged to implement sweeping reforms to restore what they describe as fairness and transparency within the federal government.
