Marco Rubio DOUBLES DOWN – New Bill Targeting Rioters Introduced!
(LibertySociety.com) – Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Kevin Cramer (R-ND) proposed the Safe Passage on Interstates Act to create a federal law to stop protestors from blocking roads. The US Constitution protects the rights of citizens to peacefully protest under the First Amendment. However, some protestors have taken to preventing drivers from progressing on roadways as a way to get their point across, keeping Americans from their destinations.
Rubio said some states have passed regulations to take care of the problem, but he feels it’s necessary to address the issue at a national level. The legislator said, “Antifa and other radical protestors” are disrupting people’s lives by pulling this “stunt,” and it has to stop.

If passed, the bill would make “obstruct[ing] the…normal use of the interstate highway” illegal. The measure makes exceptions for events and requests from police. The statement detailing the action, released exclusively to Breitbart, said offenders could spend up to 15 years in prison and pay up to $10,000 in fines.
The punishment is worse if a person “knowingly obstructs” an emergency vehicle, increasing the fine by $5,000 and the possible jail sentence by 5 years. If the purposeful blockage causes a death, the judge would be free to choose the prison timeframe.
It’s unclear what kind of support the proposal will have in the House or Senate, but if party lines dictate backing, the idea is unlikely to pass into law.
