(LibertySociety.com) – A recent poll from the University of North Florida shows voters prefer Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to continue his role in 2022. They also like him as President of the United States over former President Donald Trump in 2024.
The survey of 685 registered voters showed 55% prefer the current governor over both of his potential Democrat opponents in the upcoming gubernatorial race. Additionally, 58% approve of the job he’s doing in Florida. When asked who they would vote for in the 2024 general election primaries, 44% said they would vote for DeSantis, while 41% supported Trump.
On the other side of the spectrum, Democrat voters in the poll stated they prefer Charlie Crist as their gubernatorial candidate. Crist only had 34% backing overall in the survey.

DeSantis’ popularity may be due to his response during the coronavirus pandemic, as he concentrated on retaining personal freedoms as opposed to instilling harsh mandates. Still, the poll didn’t clarify respondents’ reasons for choosing DeSantis over other candidates. The majority simply approve of his performance as governor.
Since there’s a good deal of time until the elections, a lot can change, but if these poll numbers hold steady, it could mean a positive political future for Florida’s current governor.
