Ron DeSantis Slams 'Medical Authoritarianism' After CDC Numbers Botched

( – Although Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) recognizes COVID-19 cases are spiking in his state, he stands firm on his commitment to support his constituents’ medical choices. He even went so far as to refer to the masking guidance from the CDC as “medical authoritarianism” and a threat to American freedom in an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News on Thursday, August 12.

The governor believes citizens shouldn’t simply submit to mandates, but use resources at their disposal to make the right choices for themselves and their families.

DeSantis cautions the COVID-19 numbers coming from the federal government aren’t always correct. That’s, in part, because the CDC inflated Florida coronavirus numbers on August 8 by condensing three days of data over only two days. This error resulted in the false reporting of 8,733 additional cases. Naturally, he’s concerned about errors and the intent behind the incorrect information.

DeSantis is proud to stand up to federal overreach and warns the real threat to Americans’ health isn’t in his backyard, but at the nation’s borders. His constituents have continuously shown their support for the governor for all of his efforts to put their rights where they belong: in the citizens’ hands.
