Ron DeSantis Makes Surprise Appearance at Rock Concert
(LibertySociety.com) – On October 16, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) surprised Lynyrd Skynyrd fans in Hollywood, Florida, by hopping up on stage during their concert performance. The band was playing at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino when the governor and his wife appeared, prompting the crowd to chant “USA” over and over.
Lynyrd Skynyrd started its musical journey in 1964 in Jacksonville, Florida, so it’s no surprise the band has a special love for the state. The group recently released a song entitled “Sweet Florida,” as a “tribute” to the leader of The Sunshine State.

First Lady Casey DeSantis said the southern band donated a large sum of money to help those affected by Hurricane Ian. The roaring response to the couple appearing on stage could be an indicator of the type of support the governor could expect heading into the midterm elections.
DeSantis is running against Democratic Representative Charlie Crist (FL) for the governor’s mansion. A recent Mason-Dixon poll puts the current leader ahead of the legislator by 11%, with only 6% undecided among the 800 voters surveyed. The poll was before Hurricane Ian, which might have affected DeSantis’ popularity, depending on how Floridians viewed his response.
