RFK Jr. Shares His Perspective on MAGA Movement

(LibertySociety.com) – Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who on August 23 announced that he was suspending his independent presidential campaign and endorsing Republican nominee Donald Trump in November, took Democrats to task for misrepresenting the MAGA movement.

In an August 25 post on X, Kennedy noted that liberals have portrayed MAGA to mean a call to return the country to a time before civil rights, women’s rights, and gay rights.

He said his interpretation of MAGA was “more generous” and reflected his recent experience with Donald Trump and discussions with Trump supporters and his “inner circle.”

Kennedy said MAGA recalled a time when the country was “brimming with vitality,” hope, a “can-do spirit,” and “a belief in itself.” He said the movement envisioned a country that confronted its “darker shadows” and acknowledged its past and present injustices, while also celebrating its successes.

He said it was an America with a “vibrant middle class” and a belief in “freedom, justice, and democracy” that leads the world “in innovation, productivity, and technology.”

Kennedy announced in an August 23 press conference that he was suspending his presidential campaign and seeking to remove his name from the ballot in ten battleground states.

The candidate said that his decision to endorse Donald Trump in November stemmed from the same causes that forced him to abandon the Democrat Party: Free Speech, the war in Ukraine, and the “war” on children.

Kennedy also accused the news media of colluding with the Democrat Party to undermine his presidential campaign. He accused the Democrats of abandoning the democratic process in this election cycle.

Kennedy reminded his supporters that he had always said that he would leave the race if he became a “spoiler.” He also noted that he had no “realistic path” to the White House.

Kennedy appeared alongside Donald Trump later that day at a rally in Phoenix, Arizona where he told the crowd that his internal polls showed that his presence on the ballot was hurting Trump in battleground states.
