Rep. Gonzalez: Kamala’s Border Policies Are a Failure

(LibertySociety.com) – Texas Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris would not be able to distance herself from the Biden administration’s open borders policies, despite her recent attempts to do just that.

In an interview with Breitbart News, the Republican congressman, who represents a district along the Texas-Mexico border, said the vice president has done nothing to secure the southern border and warned that if she is elected, the crisis at the border would only get worse.

Gonzales also dismissed the current debate over whether Harris was named “Border Czar,” telling Breitbart that no matter what her title might be, the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies have led to the deaths of American citizens.

Gonzales suggested that the administration was not being honest about the number of foreign nationals that have crossed the southern border and had failed to disclose to the American people the total number of migrants permitted entry into the country through the Biden administration’s various parole programs.

He said it was vital to remind voters about Vice President Harris’ failure to do anything about border security in the more than three years since the president made her the point person.

Gonzales told Breitbart that voters needed to be reminded that the Biden-Harris administration failed to secure the border and that Donald Trump and a Republican-led Congress would “make America better off.”

In the new Harvard-Harris poll released on Tuesday, 68 percent of respondents said they oppose open borders while 69 percent, including 56 percent of Democrats and 70 percent of Independents, said Vice President Harris supported open borders.

The Harris campaign, aware that the ongoing border crisis is a problem for the vice president, is seeking to pivot on immigration by framing Donald Trump as the one who is standing in the way of securing the border.

In an online ad released on Tuesday, the Harris campaign claimed that Donald Trump pressured Senate Republicans to derail the so-called bipartisan immigration bill that failed to pass the Senate earlier this year. The ad claims that Vice President Harris is the one fighting to secure the border because she supports the bill.
