Rep. Frost Compares DEI Critiques of Harris to Racial Slurs

(LibertySociety.com) – Florida Democrat Rep. Maxwell Frost blasted Republicans for describing Vice President Kamala Harris as a “DEI candidate,” accusing them of racism.

Some Republicans, including members of the House, have noted that President Biden admitted that he selected Harris as his running mate to fulfill a promise to name a black woman as vice president.

In a post on X last Monday, Tennessee Republican Rep. Tim Burchett decried the level of incompetence in Washington and criticized the American media for propping up President Biden for three years and lying to the American people about his infirmities. He suggested that the media then dumped Biden “for our DEI vice president.”

While appearing on CNN last week, Frost told host Jim Acosta that with Harris as the nominee, the Trump campaign would become “racist and misogynistic.” He criticized Republicans for suggesting that the vice president was a diversity hire, arguing that Kamala Harris’ three years as vice president gave her more experience than Donald Trump and running mate JD Vance “combined.”

Calling references to DEI “racist dog whistles,” the 27-year-old radical progressive congressman suggested that DEI was another way of saying the “N-word,” adding that it too was a racial slur.

When asked if he thought Rep. Burchett was a racist for describing Harris as the “DEI vice president,” Frost avoided a direct answer. Instead, he conceded that he had “a good relationship” with the Tennessee Republican but suggested that Burchett at times used “rhetoric that is racist.”

In early July, Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy suggested that if the Democrat nominee was not President Biden, it would be the “DEI” vice president, prompting Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett to accuse him of being ignorant.

Roy has since defended his remark, noting that Joe Biden was “very specific” when he vowed to name a black woman as his running mate.

President Biden endorsed Vice President Harris as the Democrat nominee shortly after he dropped out of the race on July 21.

Rep. Frost was one of the first lawmakers to throw his support behind the radical left Harris, endorsing her in a post on X less than two hours after Biden withdrew from the race.
