(LibertySociety.com) – On March 14, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) announced his plan to introduce legislation eliminating the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci’s position. The lawmaker believes Fauci had too much power throughout the coronavirus pandemic and would like to diffuse it by creating three new institutes instead to replace the job. Each body would have a director of its own appointed by the President of the United States for a term of five years after Senate confirmation.
In an exclusive opinion piece for Fox News, the Kentucky senator questioned why Fauci alone had the power to make decisions affecting millions of people. He claimed the doctor didn’t follow the science but used his position to force lockdowns and mandates across the country while allegedly lying about lab experiments conducted in Wuhan, China.

Paul went on to talk about the impact on adults and children in America who missed out on in-person school and social interactions for two years. By creating multiple institutes to take the place of one job, the senator hopes to avoid the sort of top-down, sweeping policies made by a single source going forward.
What do you think about his proposal?
