Ramaswamy Criticizes Trump for Suggesting He Might Not Debate

Ramaswamy Blasts Trump Over Not Wanting To Debate

(LibertySociety.com) – In an interview with Breitbart News, Vivek Ramaswamy criticized former President Donald Trump for contemplating skipping the Republican Primary Debates, as he believes that Americans deserve to see different ideas, and that “the best ideas are going to win.” On Truth Social and during his rally in New Hampshire on April 27th, 2023, Trump expressed frustration with the Republican National Committee regarding the scheduled debates for the upcoming primary season, citing the low polling numbers of his opponents.

Ramaswamy compared Trump’s comments with the decision by the Democratic National Committee to not hold debates for the primaries, although President Joe Biden has a significant challenger, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is polling fairly well after announcing his candidacy on April 19th, 2023, in Boston, Massachusetts. Kennedy criticized the decision, as well as the decision to move the first primary election from New Hampshire to South Carolina.

Ramaswamy praised the courage of former President Trump during his candidacy to win the 2016 primary election but stated that he sees himself as “closer to Donald Trump in 2015,” suggesting that the former president is different today than he was back then. He applauded the America First movement, as he is an advocate for it, but asserted that it is a collective movement and does not belong to any one person. Former President Trump has also expressed the belief that the movement is about the people, not him.

Ramaswamy also discussed his controversial interview with now-unemployed CNN’s Don Lemon, recalling the tension between the producers and Lemon during a discussion with Ramaswamy about the Civil Rights Movement and the Second Amendment. He believes that Lemon’s ousting from the network will be beneficial to the company and expressed gratitude to mainstream news outlets for their reporting on Lemon’s firing. As of now, Ramaswamy is still polling in the single digits.
