(LibertySociety.com) – On January 11, Quebec Premier François Legault announced his plans to impose an additional “health contribution” payment on those who refuse to receive their first vaccination in the coming weeks.
Although he didn’t go into specifics about how much the penalty will be, he said 90% of the population in Quebec that’s vaccinated are “asking” for consequences for the unvaccinated. They feel it’s unfair for them to pick up the extra tab for the strain on healthcare facilities and workers allegedly caused by those who refuse to vaccinate against COVID-19.
The government will reportedly excuse those with medical exemptions.
Quebec premier says adults without a legitimate vaccination exemption will have to pay an extra tax. François Legault says unvaccinated people are financially burdening the health care system, and that they'll have to make a 'health care contribution.'

The speech comes just days after Ottawa Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos stated he believes Canada will soon mandate vaccines, although they aren’t there yet. He said the fragile Canadian healthcare system needs some relief because “people are tired.”
Duclos also pointed out hospitals in Quebec are struggling, which likely prompted Legault to speak out with a possible solution. Since the unvaccinated are supposedly more likely to need a doctor’s care, Legault wants to push the 10% who are unvaccinated into compliance for the greater good.
What do you think about the premier’s upcoming penalty? Do you think the US federal government will eventually implement a similar policy for unvaccinated Americans?
