Psaki Passes the Buck: Tries to Single Out GOP Governor As Responsible for Inflation

(LibertySociety.com) – On April 13, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki fielded a question about blaming Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) for inflation, to which she responded his recent publicity stunt was having an economic impact. Apparently, she appeared to be making excuses to justify any economic change while shifting blame away from the Biden administration.

Recently, inflation numbers reported in the United States hit their highest point in decades, and the Biden administration seems to be pointing the finger of blame at everyone but themselves. First, inflation and rising prices were due to supply chain issues and the pandemic, next it was the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the corresponding sanctions against Russia, and now Abbott is the target.

In response to the Biden administration ending Title 42 in May, the Texas governor ordered the Texas Department of Safety (DPS) to inspect trucks at the border after Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) — or double inspections, causing massive delays. Psaki said the move was making supply chain issues worse. She said the restrictions were causing delays of up to five hours. On April 14, Abbott lifted some of those inspection requirements after some protests against the order.

Oddly, President Joe Biden claimed during the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan that the buck stops with him. Wouldn’t the responsibility for inflation stop there as well? If so, the administration might want to stop blaming others for rising rates and make moves to fix the issue.
