(LibertySociety.com) – With President Biden expected to announce whether he is running for re-election in the near future, pollsters are eagerly releasing their latest results to let D.C. know the thoughts of the American people regarding whether they want him to run again. In a new poll from AP/NORC Center, only 37% of Democrat voters answered yes, according to Fox News. This is notable given his shaky approval ratings over the past two years across the political aisle.
Fox News reported that in data released months ago, 52% of “likely-Democratic” participants indicated they wanted to see Biden run. However, that now appears to have changed. Biden faced the biggest drop in support among overall voters under 45, with just 22% wanting him to run again, according to the poll. Biden continues to give weekly speeches about his infrastructure bill that was passed back in November of 2021, touting the accomplishments of his administration. However, his popularity continues to struggle. In addition, according to a new Rasmussen poll, Vice President Kamala Harris only gets 39% support to be his VP candidate for his 2024 run.
These results come as a new survey from the Washington Post and ABC News shows former President Trump leading President Biden by 2%. In an interview with The Hill, Julian Castro, a former Obama administration Cabinet member, said that although it’s just one poll, if he’s struggling like this after “a string of wins,” it “should be worrisome.” Former Obama officials have not been shy in their critique of the Biden administration, especially when it comes to the state of the economy which is on the minds of Americans every single day.
President Biden gave his State of the Union Address on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, at 9pm EST. Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced last week that newly elected Arkansas Governor and former Trump administration Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, would give the rebuttal to his speech.
