(LibertySociety.com) – On Monday, January 4, the House of Representatives voted on its new rule package. While the media focused on the ridiculous new guideline banning gendered language like “man” and “woman,” something else went largely unnoticed. The Left did something to silence Republicans.
In the package was a proposal to eliminate the “motion to recommit” rule. The long-standing provision allows the minority party, in this case, the GOP, a final opportunity to amend legislation before the House of Representatives votes on it. According to a report by Newsmax, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) allowed the change for fear that Republicans would use the provision to introduce measures that might harm the Democrats’ reelection chances if voters know where they stand on certain issues.

We should note when Republicans controlled Congress, they did not eliminate this provision. The GOP allowed Democrats to continue to amend bills and do their jobs. Unfortunately, Pelosi doesn’t seem to value freedom the way the Right does.
