(LibertySociety.com) – In a New Yorker interview published on February 14 with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), the lawmaker described the Congressional legislative process as a “s—t show.” She said the Democrat party doesn’t have the courage to support “bold leadership” to address problems in the US, a weakness.
Ocasio-Cortez pointed to her own party and President Joe Biden, saying she believes he isn’t utilizing his powers to a necessary level. The liberal legislator admits the slight Democrat Senate majority makes it difficult to pass progressive policies but believes the commander-in-chief shows too much hesitancy to get things done.
Shockingly, the representative said she thinks America could return to a Jim Crow era and “no longer be a democracy” within 10 years. In fact, she thinks it’s already begun.

During the interview, she asserted the need for a generational upgrade in Congressional leadership, and perhaps the Democratic caucus should push to make that happen. However, Ocasio-Cortez was careful to skirt direct questions about whether House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) should stay in power.
In the end, the New York representative stated America’s democracy is “never beyond hope,” but it may be in trouble.
